HENDERSON — The Lions of Freed-Hardeman University had a tall task on Tuesday evening by hosting the No. 12 Bethel (Tenn.) University Wildcats, falling 3-0.
The first 15 minutes of the match was a defensive battle with neither FHU (6-7-2, 0-4 MSC) nor Bethel getting a single shot off until a Wildcat had a shot off target at 15:51. The Lions would answer at 20:50 with
Seabata Ts'emane's shot on goal being saved by the Wildcat keeper. Bethel would break the stalemate with a goal at 26:00, before adding a second at 26:52.
The Lions' best chance came at 64:37 when
Avery Flener received a long pass and firing a shot at the Bethel (10-2-0, 3-1-0 MSC) keeper who made a diving save, then got up in time to save the rebounded shot by
João Pedro Brandão. The Wildcats added their third goal at 81:46 to put the match out of reach.
The Lions had eight shots in the loss, with five being on target. Flener and Brandão both had two shots, while
Rodrigo Tostado joined with a pair of attempts.
