Lions soccer fall in final road match

GEORGETOWN, Ky. — In their final regular-season away match, the Freed-Hardeman University Lions met the Tigers of Georgetown (Ky.) College. The Tigers got the better of the Lions, winning 4-0.

Freed-Hardeman (6-8-2, 0-5-0 MSC) saw Georgetown's first shot fired within five minutes of the opening whistle before settling down defensively where both teams fought for the midfield a majority of the first half. In the 19th minute; however, the Tigers netted their first goal of the night. João Pedro Brandão answered at 24:20 with a shot of his own, but too much traffic saw it blocked away before it approached the net. Jay Fishpaw attempted a header off of a corner at 31:55 that was saved by GC's keeper. The Tigers added a second goal before the intermission at 39:38 to take a 2-0 lead.

It was a fast start in the second half for Georgetown (6-7-0, 1-3-0 MSC), scoring their third goal of the match at 54:25 before finishing up the scoring on the 4-0 match with a goal in the 86th minute.

Brandão lead the Lions with two shots, while Fishpaw's shot on goal was joined by one from Ackeil Gardener for FHU's best chances.
