HENDERSON, TENN.- The Lady Lions Basketball JV team started off the season on the right foot against the Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) University JV Toppers by a score of 70 to 37. The Lady Lions played strong offense and defense throughout the whole game.
The Lions (1-0)Â started off the first quarter by allowing no field goals made by the Toppers and only allowing three free throws made. The Lions were able to score eighteen points in the first quarter in which seven were scored by
Mia Hobbs. The Lions were able to cruise the rest of the ballgame by out scoring the Toppers (0-1) in every quarter and allowing them to under double digits in three of the four quarters.Â
Lillie Whitehead lead the way for the Lady Lions scoring sixteen points including two three pointers made on the evening. Along with her scoring, she recorded three rebounds, two assists, and added on four steals as well.
Mia Hobbs and
Abbie Lampley both added on double digit points from the starting lineup and headed the Lady Lions secure the win.
Izzie Polania helped create a spark off the bench that helped the Lady Lions add on more points while tallying eleven points and shooting sixty percent from beyond the arc..Â
The Lady Lions will be back in action Friday, October 13, against Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville, Mississippi.Â
