KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Freed-Hardeman's
Madison Grant has qualified as an individual to compete in the NAIA Cross Country Championship meet to be held in Washington's Fort Vancouver National Historic Championship Course.
Racing in the championship race for the second time in her career, Grant's fifth place finish in the Mid-South Conference championship allowed her to qualify as an individual runner. In 2021, Grant finished the championship at Fort Vancouver in 96th place with a19:35.9 5K. This year's race will add an extra 1,000 meters to make it a 6K.

Derrick Spradlin said of his top runner, "Madison leads by example. She's obviously an excellent runner, and it's easy for her teammates to use her success as motivation for their own improvement. She's very focused on being the best runner she can be. She's also very humble and self-effacing, and she helps to set the tone on the team that each and every runner on the team matters, regardless of how fast one is in a race."
The championship race will be held on Friday, November 17 at 10:30 a.m PT (12:30 p.m. CT).
