HENDERSON — The student-athletes of Freed-Hardeman University hung up their uniforms and donned suits and dresses to celebrate the 3rd Annual Roar Awards.
Each athletic program had their student-athletes vote for Outstanding Teammate, Outstanding Christian Example, and Team MVP. Athletic training and gameday operations honored students before the night concluded the with departmental awards.
The coaches and athletic staff members voted for
Jenna Satterly to win the Outstanding Individual Accomplishment for her game against Florida Memorial in the 2025 NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship.
Basketball swept the Outstanding Female and Male Student-Athletes of the Year with
Kaylee Odom earning the Female award while
Peyton Law was voted the Outstanding Male.
The top award of the night, the Charlie Smith Heart of a Lion Award, was presented to baseball's
Matthew Riley. Named for longtime coach, athletic director, and Hall of Fame member
Charlie Smith, the Heart of a Lion is presented to an outgoing senior who best exemplifies what it means to be a Freed-Hardeman student-athlete by excelling in their respective sport, academics, leadership, and spiritual growth.
