COLUMBUS, Miss. — After sweeping their way to their first win of the season, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions took victory in their first away matchup of the season against the Mississippi University for Women Owls 8-1.
The FHU Lady Lions (2-0) dropped just one game in the doubles flight with Mia Lancaster and Julianna Alves teaming up for the 8-1 victory. Lancaster would celebrate her doubles win by winning her singles match in straight games 6-0, 6-0. Finishing up the doubles round, Elise Kruzan and Delfina Rodriguez-Molina joined forces to sweep an 8-0 victory. Rodriguez-Molina completed her singles match with a pair of 6-0 wins. Hannah Pearce joined Morgan Brown to complete the doubles run, defeating their opponents 8-0. Pearce would move to the singles court where she bested her opponent 6-4 and 6-2 while Brown won her singles match 6-0, 6-1. Savannah Corbitt only competed in the singles round, collecting the win 6-1, 6-4.
