WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. — Freed-Hardeman University's men's soccer team saw their five-match win streak come to a conclusion Thursday when hosting Williams Baptist (Ark.) University's two first-half goals were too much to overcome as the Lions lost 2-1.
Freed-Hareman (5-3-2) found themselves in a tight defensive matchup with both the Lions and the WBU Eagles managing four shots in the first half. Unfortunately for FHU, two of those shots in the first half found the back of the net when the Eagles took the lead at 12:11 before adding what proved to be the game-winner at 19:28.
A misplay from the WBU (4-3-0) keeper allowed
Lawson Ashby to steal the ball away in the middle of the box with a wide open net where the senior score his first goal of the season at 69:37. The Eagles would double their shot total from the first to second halves, with
Omer Shifris stopping all three shots on target in the second.
The Lions managed to get eight shots off in the match, three of which were on goal.
