HENDERSON – Freed-Hardeman University's Lion soccer players had a big task on Tuesday night, hosting the No. 4 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College Blue Raiders. The Lions would keep the contest close, but ultimately fell 3-0.
The first shot of the day faced by FHU (6-5-2, 0-2-0 MSC) keeper
Omer Shifris found the back of the net when, at 8:11, Blue Raider Monwabisi Mngqibisa sent a shot from the right side of the box across Shifris whose diving reach came up short.
The Blue Raiders (7-2-1, 1-0-0 MSC) added a second goal at 25:22 when Alvaro Verwey converted a penalty kick to take a 2-0 lead. Putting the game out of reach of the Lions was Felix Poschmann who netted the final goal for LWC at 61:48.
FHU sent six shots toward the LWC keeper, two each from
João Pedro Brandão and
Seabata Ts'emane and one each from
Avery Flener and
Rodrigo Tostado. Both of Ts'emane's shots were the only shots the Lions put on target.
