MIDWAY, Ky. — For the first time since 2010, the Freed-Hardeman Lion soccer team has double-digits in the win column after their 2-1 defeat of the Midway (Ky.) Eagles secured the club's 10th win of the campaign.
A close match from the start, the Lions (10-3-2) fired two shots toward the Midway net before
Seabata Ts'emane toed in his season's fifth goal at 15:35. FHU's defense stood strong in a first half where the Eagles out-shot the Lions 9-7 with
Eduardo Almansa saving all five shots on goal in the first half.
Thabo Mahalha joined the 10-goal season club in the 54th minute when he collected a pass at the top of the Midway (5-9-1) box and made a move before netting the game-winner. The Eagles scored their match's loan goal in the 58th minute before a foul in the box gave Midway the possibility to tie the match ast 83:53. Luckily for the Lions, the penalty kick sailed over the crossbar and FHU escaped with the 2-1 victory.
The Eagles had 16 total shots to FHU's 11; however, Almansa recorded seven saves to keep the victory.

FHU first hosts the No. 10 University of the Cumberlands on October 29 before hosting Georgetown on November 2 while celebrating the Lion seniors. The regular season wraps up with a West Tennessee derby against No. 17 Bethel on November 25.
