FHU winning streak extends to 13

MARIETTA, Ga. — The (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions had one of their best defensive quarter to start their neutral-site matchup with the Barons of Brewton-Parker (Ga.) College. The early start helped the Lady Lions extend their season-starting winning streak with a 65-43 win.

The first shot of the game was a 3-pointer from BPC, but the Lady Lions (13-0) clamped down defensively without allowing another field goal the remainder of the quarter by forcing the Barons to go 0-14 to close the opener. For the Lady Lions, Brooklyn Crouch had an old-fashioned three-point play followed by a more traditional 3-pointer to lead FHU to a first quarter lead of 15-4.

Shots began to fall for Brewton-Parker (5-7) with a pair of 3-pointers; however, the twin-killing of Rachel Satterly and Jenna Satterly sank back-to-back triples to keep the lead in double-digits. Lilly Kee wrapped up the quarter six points to give FHU a 29-14 halftime lead.

To start the second half, Carissa Curtis's 3-pointer capped a 6-0 run to start things before R. Satterly splashed home another triple. Kelsey Bender helped the FHU cause with a set of layups to end the third quarter with a 43-28 lead.

Moving into the fourth quarter, FHU continued to save their best for last with each Satterly sister tallying a set of 3-pointers to put the 65-43 victory on ice.

Despite surrendering 19 turnovers to BPC's 11, the Lady Lions had 14 points off of turnovers while the Barons scored 11. FHU dominated the paint, scoring 30 points to Brewton-Parker's four.

Rachel Satterly went 4-8 from long range to lead the Lady Lions with 14 points. Jenna Satterly tallied three triples to help her score 11. Kelsey Bender was a perfect 5-5 from the floor to score 11. R. Satterly led the rebounding as well with eight boards. Kaylee Odom led the way with six assists.
