Five Things to Know:
1. Saving the Best For Last
The Lady Lions play their best basketball in the fourth quarter, scoring 237 points with an average of 19.8 in the last frame. For comparison, opponents have scored 177 at an average of 14.8.
2. Red-Hot Start
The Lady Lions begin the season 12-0, giving FHU their best start since the defending national champion 2018-19 squad began the year 19-0.
3. Break the Trend
Freed-Hardeman and Brewton-Parker have met just twice since 1980 with BPC winning both. In 2004 the Barons got the better of FHU 73-65 before defeating the Lady Lions in Henderson in 2023 by four points.
4. Tough Defense
FHU makes it difficult for opponents by swarming to the ball. The Lady Lions have allowed fewer assists per game (6.3) than any other team in the NAIA. FHU ensures poor shooting for their opponents and it shows, currently ranking No. 6 in fewest points allowed per game (52.8) and opponent FG% (32.8)
5. The Road Ahead
The Lady Lions are fighting to prepare for an intense Mid-South Conference slate in which five of the seven teams are either ranked or receiving votes. Campbellsville is No. 3, Cumberlands in No. 7, Georgetown is No. 10, Bethel is No. 16, with the Lady Lions by receiving votes. The only conference with more teams is the Great Plains Athletic Conference with six of their 12 teams mentioned.
