HENDERSON — Playing a pair of home matches over the weekend, the Freed-Hardeman University men's tennis team hosted Bethel (Tenn.) University on Saturday before welcoming the No. 19 University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) on the courts. The Lions just missed out on their first conference victory in a 4-3 loss to the Wildcats on Saturday before falling to the Patriots 6-1 on Sunday

Against Bethel (4-5) Merlin Bolema and Nolan Laduree teamed up for a 6-1 doubles victory, then both won their singles matches with Bolema winning on the No. 1 court 6-4, 7-5. Laduree claimed a 6-2, 7-5 victory. Theo Devals forced a set three when a second code violation by his opponent allowed him to claim the match victory 2-6, 7-5, 1-0.
