LEBANON, Tenn. — The Lions faced a tough road test against the No. 17 Cumberland (Tenn.) University Phoenix Thursday afternoon where the Lions took one match, but lost the duel 6-1.
In the doubles round, the Lions (3-9, 0-4 MSC) faced the country's No. 18 duo where
Merlin Bolema and
Nolan Laduree took Vitor Ferreira and Julian Parada to the wire before losing 6-4.
The lone FHU point came on the No. 1 singles court where
Merlin Bolema forced a third set against his Cumberland (7-8-1, 3-0 MSC) opponent. After losing the first set in a tiebreak, Bolema won the next two to claim the victory 6-7 (3-7), 7-5, 6-1.
