BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — As the (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lions prepare for their 2024 postseason the Mid-South Conference announced their season awards. FHU saw five players honored including two each on the first team, the second team, and Gold Gloves.
Jordan Carter was selected to the first team after a stellar freshman campaign where he led the Lions in batting average (.338), runs (51), doubles (16), RBI (50), and a share of hits (51), and home runs (13).
Colton Huntt picked a first-team All-Conference nod with for the second time. Huntt led the team with a 3.97 ERA while maintaining a 7-5 record with four complete games. Huntt was just the fourth pitcher in Freed-Hardeman history to eclipse 100 strikeouts in a single season with 101 punchouts while holding his opposing batters to a .224 average.
Chosen to the second team,
Christian Presley had a .313 average where he collected 50 hits and drove in 30 runs.Â
Adam Smithson was also named to the second team with a .327 average. Starting all 46 games for the Lions, Smithson had 11 doubles and six home runs. The senior was also awarded the Gold Glove at shortstop where he had a .958 fielding percentage in 168 chances.
Finishing up FHU's awards was
Houston High, selected as the MSC's Gold Glove at pitcher. In 13 chanches, High was a perfect 1.000 with two putouts and 11 asssists. Â
