HUNTINGTON, Ind. — The Lady Lions of Freed-Hardeman University opened the 2024 campaign in the Hoosier State, facing the Foresters of Huntington (Ind.) University. FHU came up short, falling to HU 4-0 in full time.
The Lady Lions (0-1-0) started on the defensive half of the field, with keeper 
Caraline Riddle being forced to save two shots in the first 10 minutes of the season. 
Abby Schwarz took the first shot of the year, but it was kept out by the Huntington goalie.
Huntington (1-1-0) broke through in the 17th minute, taking advantage of a penalty kick and took a 1-0 lead. The Foresters never slowed down in the opening half, firing 14 shots toward Riddle, four of which were on target including the second goal being scored at 36:28.
Allowing Riddle a breather, 
Ava Pierce stood between the pipes in the second half, giving up two goals in the second frame. 
Tsielo Mokebe make her presence known quickly, leading the Lady Lions in both shots (3) and shots on goal (2) in just 35 minutes of second-half action.
