Men's soccer continues historic season with victory over NCAA's Trevecca Nazarene

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Off to one of their best starts in program history, the Freed-Hardeman University Lions competed in their first road trip of the season, Exiting victorious with a 4-3 victory over former TranSouth Conferencre rivals, and now NCAA DII members, Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University Trojans.

The Lions (6-0-2) got on the board first when Seabata Ts'emane netted his fourth goal of the season thanks to a helper from Thabo Mahlaha at 23:53. The Trojans scored an equalizer at the end of the first half with a goal at 43:28.

Avery Flener opened up the second frame by getting past the Trevecca (1-2-1) keeper in the 49th minute after a great pass from Vicente Georgi. From there, the teams lit up the scoreboard by tallying four goals in the span of five minutes beginning when Mahlaha took advantage of a penalty kick to put the Lions up 3-1 at 83:37. Trevecca answered a little more than a minute later to set the score a 3-2. Mahlaha kept his outstanding match rolling by tallying a brace, a game-winning goal, and recorded his fifth point of the mach with one kick at 84:00 to give FHU a 4-2 edge. Despite a TNU goal at 87:04, the Lions exited Nasvhille with a victory.

FHU's shot were extraordinarily well-taken with the only four shots taken by the Lions being the four goals. On the other side of the pitch, TNU took 16 shots, with Eduardo Almansa saving three of the six shots on target.
