HENDERSON — The Freed-Hardeman University Lions plastered a staggering 30 goals in their match against the Mississippi University for Women Owls with the three goals being enough for a 3-1 victory.
Freed-Hardeman (7-0-2) tested the keeper early with multiple shots being saved with rebounding shots going wide. In the span of 10:49 to 14:31, Freed-Hardeman tallied six shots, half of which were on the mark. The first goal finally crossed at 23:07 when
Cole Shipley threaded the needle from midfield to find
Noah Setterberg on the run who scored his season's fourth goal. The rebounds finally paid off for FHU in the 44th minute when Setterberg's shot was saved, but
Brandon Carrillo was there to bury the rebound for his season's third goal.
The Lions tallied their final goal at 69:12 when Carrillo's corner kick anchored a set piece that ended with
Saban Bell heading in the third FHU goal of the match and Bell's third of the campaign. MUW (0-6-0) did not go quietly, sneaking in a goal in the 80th minute, but the Lions held on to gain their seventh victory.
