HENDERSON — In a strong defensive battle, the Lions of Freed-Hardeman University were unable to net the equalizer against the (RV) Williams Baptist (Ark.) Univeristy Eagles in a 1-0 final.
It took nearly 10 minutes before either team took a shot and
Seabata Ts'emane nearly got the Lions (7-1-2) on the board with a shot, but the Eagles' keeper made a save. In the first half FHU took nine shots, three of which were on the mark but saved.
Avery Flener rocketed a shot at 59:44, but the Williams Baptist (4-1-4) keeper made an outstanding save. The momentum then shifted to the Eagles enough to score the game-winner in the 62nd minute. Ts'emane had another opportunity at 76:06, but another kept cemented the final score.
