Box Score GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Competing in the East Region of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's NAIA tournament, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions faced some of the top talent in the country.
In the doubles round, both FHU pairs were up against top-5 seeds with
Kennley Kirk and
Hannah Pearce falling to No. 4 seed Nicole Viljoen and Liliana Drukerova of Campbellsville 6-2.
Morgan Brown and
Elise Kruzan then dropped their match against Midway's (Ky.) No. 5 seed Agustina Olivero/Mara Guillen Perez duo 6-0.
Hannah Pearce was the unlucky Lady Lion to not draw a bye into the second round, falling to Midway's Sofia Rueda 6-3, 6-2 in the round of 128.
In the round of 64,
Morgan Brown gave her opponent the closest fight, falling to Campbellsville's Andrea Overjero Fernandez 6-4, 7-5.
Elise Kruzan had the toughest test by facing No. 4 seed Anastasiia Vorobiova of Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College, falling 6-2, 6-0.
Kennley Kirk's task was just as trying, lining up against No. 6 seed Agustina Olivero of Midway, dropping her match 6-2, 6-0.
Cecily Davis was bested by Campbellsville's Nicole Niljoen 6-0, 6-0.
