CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — For the second match in a row, the Lady Lions hit above 20% on their attack; however, the Tigers of Campbellsville University hit 28.3% to win the Mid-South Conference match 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-21).
In the middle of the first frame, the Lady Lions (10-9, 0-3 MSC) tore off on a 7-1 run capped by a tandem block from
Avery Harris and
Cate Schroer to take a 12-9 lead. The Tigers; however, rattled off nine unanswered points down the stretch to lead to the 25-21 set win.
Alanys Ruíz Rivera planted two kills in the middle of a 5-1 run to knot the second set 11-11 against the CU Tigers (16-8, 3-1 MSC).
Alyssa Austin anchored a five-point swing to give the Lady Lions an 18-13 lead. The Tigers used another late run to flip to score on the way to a 25-22 set win.
The third set proved to be the tightest race with FHU and Campbellsville knotted up as late as 19-19.
Avery Young collected a kill to make the score 22-21 in favor of CU, but the hosts would push three to end the set and match 25-21.
Alanys Ruíz Rivera was a dig short of a double-double by leading the team with 10 kills and the second-most of the Lady Lions: nine digs.
Charley Fulton pulled up 16 digs while
Alyssa Austin had 18 helpers, followed by
Masey Kate Adams' 12 assists.Â
