FHU forces 24 turnovers in big win

ST. LOUIS — The No. 6 Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions forced the UHSP Eutectics to turn the ball over 24 times on Saturday, then converted those to 28 points as they sailed past the Euts 95-47.

Freed-Hardeman (4-0) lit the net from long range early: bucketing five in the first quarter alone. Carissa Curtis had three in the opening frame before Rachel Satterly's 3-pointer push FHU to a 23-17 lead after 10 minutes.

Scoring the same point total in the second quarter as they did in the first, FHU's 23 points kept them comfortably ahead of UHSP (0-3). Satterly bucketed five more points before the posts took over with Lilly Kee and Jocy May bucketing six points in the last five minutes in the half. The Lady Lions were ahead 46-27 after the first half.

FHU's defense forced a plethora of bad shots in the late minutes of the third period and early minutes of the fourth. For nearly seven minutes the Eutectics were unable to connect on a shot from the floor going 0-12. The first five minutes of FHU's fourth quarter included layup lines with JB Clifton, May, and Brooklyn Crouch each scoring 14 straight points off of layups. May's layup with 1:06 left closed the book on the 95-47 win.

Jenna Satterly went 3-3 from long range to lead FHU with 19 points while Carissa Curtis added 15. Jocy May had a career-high 12 points in the win while Rachel Satterly scored 10. May joined Ally Weathers with the team-high of six rebounds with Brooklyn Crouch leading with eight assists.
