PENSACOLA, Fla. — In their final multi-match day of the season the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions split sweeps. After defeating the Clinton (S.C.) College Bears 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-22) the ladies were on the losing end of a high-scoring sweep to hosting the Pensacola Christian (Fla.) College Eagles 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 27-25).

In the day's opener the Lady Lions (11-4) dominated every statistical category, especially offensively. FHU tallied 50 kills to Clinton's 18.
FHU began the match on a 9-1 run with all nine points coming from kills and a service ace. The Bears (7-4) would use the middle of the set to battle back within five point, but
Catherine Hackett's kill turned momentum back FHU's way.
Autumn Howard's service ace wrapped the opening set with a 25-13 victory.
The second frame began much closer with Clinton and FHU trading blows all the way to a 9-9 tie. The Lady Lions promptly went on a 10-0 run highlighted by three straight kills from
Audrey Orton. The set would conclude with
Hope Breen's kill settling the score at 25-14.
The Bears battled in the third set never letting the Lady Lions lead by more than seven points before forcing four match points. Orton's kill ended the comeback on a 25-22 set and a match sweep.
Audrey Orton led the Lady Lion offense with 14 kills with a .417% rating.
Avery Young led FHU with 12 digs while
Alyssa Austin and
Becca Heineman each tallied 22 assists.

The second battle of the day went against the Lady Lions (11-5) despite the box score being nearly identical for each squad. FHU and PCC each tallied 48.0 points, 46 digs, and five service aces. FHU's kill count rose each set with nine in the first set turning into 11 in the second before ending the match with a 16-kill third set.
Avery Young led FHU in the match against Pensacola Christian (9-4) with 10 kills.
Becca Heineman recorded a double-double with 16 assists and a season-high 10 digs.
