Lady Lions blow out Tigers on the road

GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Despite winning by one possession at home, the No. 2 Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions stormed into the Bluegrass State to complete the season sweep of the (RV) Georgetown College Tigers with an 89-61 victory.

Though Georgetown connected for the first bucket of the game, Lilly Kee and Jenna Satterly got their big night started to give FHU (20-1, 5-1 MSC) an early lead. Teaming up for all of FHU's first 13 points, Kee's jumper at 6:12 put the Lady Lions on top 13-10. Elli Chumley joined the fray with a layup to conclude the first quarter with a 23-21 FHU lead.

The Lady Lions truly began to separate from the Tigers (16-5, 1-4 MSC) in the second quarter by outscoring the hosts 23-9. Satterly began the quarter with an old-fashioned three-point play before Alaina Stiles and Ally Weathers connected for back-to-back triples. Rachel Satterly joined in with a 3-pointer at 5:38 before sister J. Satterly scored the final seven points of the half to give the Lady Lions a 46-30 halftime edge.

Kee continued to exert dominance in the paint, scoring 10 points in the third quarter. R. Satterly made her presence felt with a pair of 3-pointers while J. Satterly closed the quarter with a layup to make the score 68-45 in favor of FHU.

While the Tigers increased their offensive output in the final quarter, FHU always managed to answer. Though Georgetown hit 3-pointers on successive trips, Brooklyn Crouch and Weathers answered with back-to-back treys of their own to make the lead as many as 30 points. By the final horn, the FHU victory was 89-61.

FHU dominated every statistical category including a difference of 58% from the floor to GC's 37% night. The Lady Lions out-rebounded the Tigers 44-23 while dishing out four more assists than the opposition.

Lilly Kee led the charge with an 11-for-13 night from the field to score 24 points while Jenna Satterly followed with 23 points. Rachel Satterly tallied three 3-pointers to bucket 15 points with Ally Weathers following with 10. J. Satterly and Weathers were each a rebound short of a double-double by leading FHU with nine rebounds.
