DAYTON, Tenn. — Lilly Kee grabbed a season-high 16 rebounds to register her fourth double-double to lead the No. 6 Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions to victory, 80-66, over the Bryan (Tenn.) College Lions in the first game of the new year.
Carissa Curtis got the Lady Lions (15-0) going with three 3-pointers as FHU made their first eight attempts.
Rachel Satterly's 3-pointer at 3:55 put the Lady Lions on top 20-9. Kee rode out the first quarter with four made free throws before another Curtis 3-pointer gave FHU a 27-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Satterly and
Ally Weathers started the second frame with back-to-back 3-pointers to make the lead over Bryan (10-3) 21 points.
Jenna Satterly joined the fray, making the last two shots for FHU to take a 43-21 lead into the locker room.
The hosts had a massive third quarter, bucketing more points in the third quarter than they did the entire first half with 26 points. FHU stayed right with Bryan with R. Satterly, J. Satterly, and Kee teaming up to score all 17 Lady Lion points to take a 60-47 lead into the fourth quarter.
Curtis and J. Satterly netted another pair of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter while Kee continued her solid shooting from the charity stripe to push FHU to the 80-66 victory.
The Lady Lions shot 52.2% from the floor while holding Bryan to a 32.8% mark. FHU dominated at the glass by out-rebounding Bryan 42-28.
Lilly Kee led all scorers with 23 points to go with her 16 rebounds.
Carissa Curtis netted six treys to score 20 points while
Jenna Satterly and
Rachel Satterly connected for 17 and 11, respectively.
Brooklyn Crouch dished out seven assists in the victory.

Though they still have one late non-conference match, the Lady Lions swept through non-MSC opponents to set up the tough Mid-South Conference schedule. FHU returns to Henderson to host the No. 25 Georgetown Tigers on January 8 before hosting the No. 12 Cumberlands Patriots on January 10.
