CONWAY, Ark. — Beginning the 2026 season, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions defeated the Hendrix (Ark.) College Warriors, 6-1.
The doubles round was hotly contested with all three matches requiring seven games to win.
Vanessa Avila Padilla and
Suri Gomez teamed up to win their match on the No. 1 court 7-6 (8) while
Kennley Kirk and
Anna Harder earned the doubles point for Freed-Hardeman (1-0)Â with a 7-6 (4) victory.
Morgan Brown and
Elise Kruzan avoided a tiebreaker by winning on the No. 2 court 7-5.
Brown then swept through her singles match again her Hendrix (1-1) opponent on the No. 3 court 6-0, 6-0 while Gomez earned the win on the No. 1 court 6-1, 6-2. Kruzan fell 6-3, 6-1, but Harder earned the win on court No. 4 6-3, 6-2. Kirk picked up a victory in 6-3 while
Audrey Harder joined on the No. 6 court with a 6-3, 6-0 win.
