JACKSON, Tenn. — The Freed-Hardeman University Lions were swept by the No. 13/12 University of the Cumberlands Patriots, 7-0, in the Mid-South Conference opener.
Freed-Hardeman (1-4, 0-1 MSC) was unable to claim the doubles point as
Vanessa Avila Padilla and
Suri Gomez fell 6-2 on the No. 1 court.
Morgan Brown and
Elise Kruzan dropped the No. 2 doubles match 6-3 while
Kennley Kirk and
Anna Harder were defeated 6-0 at No. 3 as the Phoenix secured the early advantage.
In singles play against the Patriots (5-1, 1-0 MSC), Gomez came up short 6-0, 6-1 on the No. 1 court while Kruzan fell 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2. Brown was defeated 6-2, 6-0 on the No. 3 court and
Anna Harder dropped her match 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4. Kirk fell 6-0, 6-1 on the No. 5 court while
Audrey Harder was defeated 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles to round out the match.
