BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — In the semifinal round of the 2026 Mid-South Conference tournament, the No. 2 Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions defeated the (RV) University of the Cumberlands, 71-63, to advance to the championship game.
As the second seed in the tournament, the Lady Lions (26-3) lead on first team all-conference members.
Lilly Kee and
Jenna Satterly scored all 14 of FHU's points in the opening frame. Though Cumberlands had a late 7-0 run, Satterly connected for a 3-pointer before her jumper in the final minute gave FHU a 14-13 lead after the opening frame.
The sixth seed in the tournament, Cumberlands (19-11) was held scoreless the first three minutes of the quarter. Meanwhile,
Ally Weathers took over for the Lady Lions by scoring 10 of the Lady Lions' next 12 points with her jumper at 5:31 giving FHU an 11-point lead. Kee and Satterly joined forces again to score the last six points of the half to give FHU a 32-23 lead at the break.
Though UC opened the second half with five straight points, but Brooklyn Couch answered with a 3-pointer and a layup to keep the Patriots at bay. The teams traded baskets, but FHU never allowed them within two possessions of a tie. Weathers' 3-pointer in the final moments gave the Lady Lions a 50-41 lead after three full quarters.
The Lady Lions kept the Patriots on the edge of a double-digit deficit, with a three throw from Kee being followed by a Crouch 3-pointer giving FHU their largest lead -13 points - with under four minutes to play.
Rachel Satterly wrapped the game with a triple and a layup to propel FHU to the championship game.
FHU shot 42% from the floor while holding UC to a 38% mark. FHU led at the window with 46 rebounds while scoring 40 of their points from inside the key.
Lilly Kee had a semifinal double-double with a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds.
Jenna Satterly followed with 20 points while
Ally Weathers added 15 points.
Rachel Satterly was the leading helper, dishing out six assists in the win.
