FHU soccer draws for third consecutive match

CONWAY, Ark. — For the third straight match, the Freed-Hardeman University Lions soccer team could not determine a winner or loser in a 90-minute stalemate. The Lions and the Central Baptist (Ark.) College Mustangs each scored once in the 1-1 final.

Freed-Hardeman (1-0-3) leaned on keeper Gaspar Bourdon for a majority of the first half, with the keeper tallying three saves in the opening 45. The Mustangs were able to find the back of the net first in the 30th minute.

The Mustangs' (1-0-2) lead did not last long as Marko Ngabirano took a pass from Henry Appiah and buried it behind the CBC keeper at 32:20 to level the scores. In the second half, the Lion offense took over, firing five shots to the Mustangs' three. Both goalies recorded two saves in the final frame.

Noah Setterberg led FHU with two shots, one of which was on target. Marko Ngabirano's goal was his only shot of the match, while Adrian Mann and Heydan Lefort both fired shots on target.
