CUTHBERT, Ga. — The Freed-Hardeman University men's soccer team was led by it's defenders on Thursday's match against the Andrew (Ga.) College Fighting Tigers. Both goals were scored by the backs in a 2-0 victory.
Just 6:30 into the match,
Henry Appiah scored his season's second goal on the first shot of the game for either team. The first half was a battle of attrition, with Freed-Hardeman (5-2-3) mustering five shots while holding their opponents to one.
In the second half, the Lions began to increase their shot total - eventually firing 11 shots toward the Andrew (2-7-0) keeper with four being on goal. FHU took advantage of a free kick after a Fighting Tiger booking when
David Hajduk's initial offering missing wide left before
Hugo Luque was able to bury his year's first goal.
Across the match, FHU took 16 shots while holding Andrew to two. Of the one shot on goal,
Gaspar Bourdon managed the clean sheet with one save.Â
