At 9:20pm, Freed-Hardeman women prepared for a 5k battle against 168 runners at the annual City Auto Memphis Twilight XC Classic. In a race stacked with NCAA talent, including Division I schools, Mary Pearce led the way for the Lady Lions as she finished in 37th place with a time of 19:01. Bella Lamb finished second, with a minute improvement from the season opener, placing 108th followed by Hannah Gehlert. Billie Rose Johnson ran a four-second collegiate PR, and Clara Whitworth was the fifth and final finisher, with Freed walking away with a team score of 410 points and a 16th place team finish.

Shortly after, the men's 4-mile race was the main event of the evening and started at 10:00pm. Daniel Puckett led the Lions with Barrett Poe right behind him, both placing in the top 50 of 186 runners, Puckett in 46th and Poe in 50th. Lucas Black came in next for the Lions with Neal Rowlett being the fourth scorer. Brock Windham anchored the team, with a time of 23:16. The Lions placed 14th out of 20 teams!

The Lions will travel back to Memphis in two weeks for the Rhodes College Cross Country Invitational at Shelby Farms. The men's race will start at 8am, and the women's race will begin at 8:45am.
