Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. - Freed-Hardeman senior volleyball player
Sydney Rice recorded her 1000th career kill on Tuesday, Sept. 27, becoming only the fourth player in FHU history to reach the career milestone.
Rice, a right side hitter from Johnson City, Tenn., entered FHU's match with Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University needing two kills to get to the plateau and got both of the needed kills in the first set. She finished the match with nine kills to bring her career total to 1007.
A three-time all-conference player and last year's TranSouth recipient of the A.O. Duer Award, Rice is the first Lady Lion since 2007 to get to 1000 kills. The previous three players to do so are Karina Souza (2180), Renata Pedreira (1867) and Randal Prince (1087). She is FHU's first right side hitter to accomplish the feat and the first since set scoring changed from 30 to 25 points.
Rice is also successful off the court as a two-time TranSouth Conference Scholar-Athlete and an NAIA Scholar Athlete.
