Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. - The No. 17 Freed-Hardeman Lions won some big games in non-conference play, and hope to do more of the same during the conference schedule which tips off tonight in the Brewer Sports Center.
Freed-Hardeman went 10-4 against a non-conference slate that ranked 18th in strength of schedule according to the Massey Ratings. FHU got two wins over No. 13 Tougaloo (Miss.) and a win over No. 18 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) as well as four wins over NCAA Division II opponents, and came within four points of handing No. 4 Shorter (Ga.) its first loss of the season in the final non-conference game.
The Lions come into tonight's opener against Blue Mountain (Miss.) College ranking ninth in the NAIA in scoring, averaging 84.2 points per game. The offense is led by junior forward
Kyle Teichmann, whose 23.0 point-per-game average ranks seventh in the nation.
Junior guard
Jonathan Milewski has had a breakthrough season, averaging 15.9 points per game while knocking down 45 3-pointers at a 48.4 percent clip.
Senior point guard
Anthony Sampson is on pace to shatter the school's single-season assist record. He currently leads the nation in assists at 9.8 per game and has had double figures in assists in nine of FHU's 14 games this season.
Blue Mountain (7-5), in its fifth season as a program, is showing improvement under second-year coach J.D. Parker. The Toppers enter conference play with a winning record for the first time. BMC is led by sophomore Devante Pulliam, who averages 16.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.
