Box Score
HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions played solid defense but could not create enough offensive opportunities, eventually losing to Davenport (Mich.) University, 1-0, on Friday night at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex.
Davenport (4-1), who is just outside the NAIA top 25, missed an excellent chance early on a cross into the box, but Thelma Gylfadottir's shot missed just wide off the left post.
A few minutes later, Paige Almond made a sliding save to clear a shot off the line after a ball in the box got away from Abbey Adkins.
Adkins then got into the act with a diving save on shot by Gylfadottir to left post in 38th minute, then made another fabulous save just before halftime, punching a ball sent near the crossbar to keep the match scoreless at halftime.
DU broke through early in the second half, opening the scoring on a cross by Paige Eli to the far post and Laken Duchar-Clark finished
FHU (2-2-2) saw its best chance come in the 65th minute on a direct kick by Katie Hillis that deflected off the crossbar.
The path gets no easier for Freed-Hardeman, which hosts No. 13 Auburn University Montgomery (Ala.) at 5:00 PM on Saturday.
