Box Score 2 HENDERSON, Tenn. - Daniel Wallace and Joe Creasy combined to strand 10 runners as the No. 25 Freed-Hardeman Lions opened a three-game weekend series with a 5-2 win over Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.).
Wallace (1-0) earned the win in his first start of the season, going 5-1/3 innings without allowing a run. Creasy helped Wallace work out of a jam in the top of the sixth after two runners reached with one out, retiring the next two batters to escape the inning.
The Lions (7-2) then plated four runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-0 lead, getting RBI hits from Zach Quillian and Robert Prieto and a sacrifice fly from Kyle Dearing.
Bobby Seda's RBI single in the third put FHU on the board, and the score remained 1-0 until the Lions built a cushion in the sixth.
The Lynx (6-3) broke up the shutout bid in the eighth inning, scoring a two-out run after Prieto made a throwing error from third base. They added another run in the ninth, taking advantage of two Creasy wild pitches, but Creasy limited the damage to pick up his first save of the season.
Both teams had 10 hits, but the combination of Wallace and Creasy issued no walks while Creasy stranded two runners in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings. Dearing, Seda, Quillian and Cole Veazey all had two hits for the Lions, who also swiped five bases without getting caught.
The series concludes with a double-header starting at noon on Saturday.
