BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Holding the second seed in the Mid-South Conference tournament, the Freed-Hardeman University Lions drew the No. 5 seed Campbellsville Tigers on Wednesday. Neither team had issue scoring, but the Tigers upset the Lions 12-11
The Lions (32-16) came up short in a contest that featured four different half-innings with three or more runs to cross. FHU's best inning was the top of the sixth thanks in part to
Brennen Gibson's grand slam home run driving in four of the six runs.
Campbellsville (26-21) managed to add three runs in the seventh inning before a four-run eighth secured the win.
Chase Eakes was 3-for-4 from the plate while driving in a team-high five runs. The other six FHU hits came off of six different Lion bats.
Hunter McLemore was cruising, striking out 10 tigers in 6 2/3 innings; however, Campbellsville managed to make consistent contact.
Clay Strope (2-2) would get the loss after 1/3 inning of relief.
