Lions Announce Game Schedule for 2027 Season

Freed-Hardeman will host 30 games at Five Wells Field, including series against national powers Georgia Gwinnett and Cumberlands.

HENDERSON, Tenn. — The Freed-Hardeman University baseball team has announced its schedule for the 2027 season, featuring 30 home games at Five Wells Field, 18 Mid-South Conference contests and several matchups against programs that finished among the NAIA's best last season.

The Lions, led by head coach Jess Trask, are coming off a 32-win campaign in 2026.

The upcoming schedule includes eight opponents that finished among the top 50 in the NAIA's May 5, 2026 RPI release. FHU is scheduled to play 20 games against those teams, including 12 contests against opponents that finished inside the top 25.

"This is a schedule that will challenge us from the first pitch and continue to prepare us throughout the season," said Trask. "Opening with seven road games will tell us a great deal about our team, and bringing programs like Cumberlands and Georgia Gwinnett to Five Wells Field gives our players and fans meaningful national-level matchups at home. More than anything, we want this schedule to prepare us to compete for the Mid-South Conference and be playing our best baseball late in the year."

Opening on the Road

Freed-Hardeman begins the 2027 season with seven consecutive road games.

The Lions open with a doubleheader at Louisiana Christian University on January 29 before traveling to LSU Alexandria for two games on January 30. Both programs finished among the top 30 of last season's RPI, with Louisiana Christian at No. 18 and LSU Alexandria at No. 27.

FHU continues its season-opening road swing with a three-game series at Brewton-Parker College on February 5–6.

Home-Heavy February

The Lions make their Five Wells Field debut with a four-game series against the University of St. Francis (Illinois) on February 12–14.

FHU will then host Saint Xavier University for four games on February 19–20. Following a February 23 midweek trip to Faulkner University, the Lions return home for a four-game series against Talladega College on February 26–27.

Indiana Tech, which finished No. 25 in last season's RPI, visits Henderson for a three-game series on March 6–7.

After opening the season with seven road contests, Freed-Hardeman will play 15 of its next 16 games at Five Wells Field.

Mid-South Conference Play

The Lions begin Mid-South Conference action by hosting Cumberland University on March 12–13.

After a March 17 midweek game at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, FHU travels to Georgetown College for a three-game conference series on March 19–20.

The Lions return home to face UT Southern on March 23 before welcoming the University of the Cumberlands to Five Wells Field for a three-game conference series on March 26–27. Cumberlands finished No. 6 in the May 2026 RPI release.

Freed-Hardeman begins April with a three-game series at Bethel University on April 2–3.

Nationally Prominent April Matchups

Following a home game against Blue Mountain Christian University on April 6, the Lions will host Georgia Gwinnett College for a three-game series on April 9–10.

Georgia Gwinnett finished No. 2 in last season's RPI and represents one of the most prominent nonconference opponents to visit Five Wells Field in recent years. All six of FHU's scheduled games against teams that finished inside last season's top 10 will be played in Henderson.

The Lions travel to UT Southern on April 13 before closing the conference schedule with consecutive road series. FHU visits Lindsey Wilson University on April 16–17 and Campbellsville University on April 23–24.

A home matchup against Faulkner on April 20 will serve as the Lions' final regular-season game at Five Wells Field.

The Mid-South Conference Tournament is scheduled to begin April 30 at higher-seeded campus sites.
