HENDERSON, Tenn. - After three straight road games, the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion soccer team will be back at home tonight as they host Lyon College in a 5:00 PM match up at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex.

SETTING THE STAGE

The Lady Lions (7-4-1, 4-3-1) are coming off a 2-1 win over Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) University (3-9-1, 3-6) on Saturday.

It didn't take long for FHU to get on the board in the match against Hannibal-LaGrange as freshman Nina Carolissen was able to find the back of the net in the 5th minute off an assist by Taylor Woods. Woods was able to use her footwork to get past the Lady Trojan defense and send in a pass to Carolissen who fired in a shot just past the reaching arms of Hannibal LaGrange keeper Tori Ditter.

Freshman Avis Van Kampen would also strike moments later in the 26th minute as Taylor Jenkins hussled behind the Lady Trojan defense to send in a cross pass to Van Kampen who gave the Lady Lions their second goal of the match.

The Lady Lions outshot Hannibal-LaGrange 17-8 in the match, with five of FHU's shots coming on goal. FHU was led in offense by Nina Carolissen who attempted 10 shots, with four of her shots coming on goal.

Lyon (Ark.) College (10-5, 7-2) is coming into Monday's match off a 4-3 win over Park (Mo.) University on Saturday. The Lady Scots were evenly matched against the Pirates as both teams attempted 12 shots in the match and seven shots on goal. Three different players for Lyon College found the back of the net in the match including Anna Waldman, Monica Ayala and Mikaela Buckley.

Anna Waldman has led the Lady Scots in total offense all season long as she has chipped in 12 goals for the year. She has also had success at putting pressure on opposing defenses with 40 shots on goal throughout this season, which ranks her 23rd in the NAIA in shots on goal per match.

LAST TIME THEY MET

The Lady Lions traveled to Batesville, Ark. last season to take on Lyon College and experienced their worst loss of the season as they fell 6-1 to the Lady Scots.

Lyon College started the scoring run early with goals in the second and 12th minutes to give them a 2-0 lead in the first half. The Lady Scots would then add a flurry of four goals in the second half to hand FHU the 6-1 loss.

Although FHU out-shot the Scots 13-12 in the match, Lyon was able to put 11 of its 12 shots on frame to put pressure on the Lady Lion defense. Five of Lyon's six goals came on shots from outside the box. FHU got its lone goal in the 14th minute when Taylor Woods collected a loose ball near the top of the box and beat Lyon keeper Stephanie Spiteri to pull the score to 2-1.

The Lady Lions will look to have a better result this season as they host a tough Lyon College team in a 5:00 PM match up at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex

7 Nina Carolissen has scored seven goals throughout this season including two multi-goal games against St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Central Baptist earlier this season.
