SETTING THE STAGE
FHU (19-5, 6-0 AMC) enters today's match-up with Park University coming off a sweep of Hannibal-LaGrange University earlier this week.
Brandon Guske (5-2) picked up the win in the opening game on Monday after working three full innings and allowing just one hit while striking out four in his fifth win of the season. The Lions used a barrage of relievers to finish things out as Jordan Newby, Jordan Goff, Kyle Douglas and Brice Stratton combined for seven innings of work and allowed just one run.
Pete Trollinger led the Lions at the plate as he had one home run, two RBI's and scored two runs in the victory. The Lions exploded for 14 hits in the game and swiped seven bases, led by Garrett Ferguson who had three steals.
Beau Caviness (5-1) picked up the win after working 2 and 1/3 innings in relief of starting pitcher Nolan Huber. Caviness allowed just two hits and fanned six batters through his two-plus innings of work.
The Lions exploded for 16 hits in the game and swiped five bases, led by J.C. Daily, who had three steals in the game. Pete Trollinger continued his hot hitting on the day with a second homerun, two hits and three RBI's to lead the Lions at the plate.
The Lion baseball team continued their impressive play at the plate Tuesday as they pounded out 14 hits to complete the sweep of Hannibal-LaGrange University with a final score of 15-2. With the win, the Lions move to 19-5 on the season and 6-0 in conference play.
FHU (19-5, 6-0 AMC) used a slew of relievers to get the job done following a solid start by Jack Coleman. Jared Humphry, Casey Overturf, Kyle Douglas and Bailey Barnett combined for four innings of work and allowed just four hits while striking out three. Jared Humphry (2-1) was credited with the win after working one inning and giving up no hits and striking out two.
Houston Looser led the Lions at the plate as he went 2-for-3 on the day with a homerun and four RBI's. Zac Carter also finished the day strong with two hits and three RBI's. The Lions pounded out 14 hits in the game and had three doubles and a triple to help close things out in convincing fashion.
