HENDERSON, Tenn. - The No. 18 Freed-Hardeman Lion baseball team could not have asked for a better start to their conference schedule as they picked up a 10-0 shutout win over Central Baptist (Ark.) College Friday at Carnes Field.

Brandon Guske (4-2) worked eight full innings in the win, pitching a shutout on just seven hits, while striking out seven in his sixth start of the season.

Garrett Ferguson and Houston Looser led the Lions at the plate as Looser went 2-for-4 on the day and contributed a homerun while Ferguson finished the day with a home run and two RBI's in the match-up. J.C. Daily followed close behind as he went 2-for-5 on the day with two stolen bases and three scored runs.

The Lions would get things started early in the game as Ferguson found a pitch to his liking and knocked a two-run shot over the left field fence to also score Daily, who reached on an error by Central Baptist in his first at-bat.

FHU would add to their total in the third and fifth innings as they added one run in each inning to take a 4-0 lead. J.C. Daily would score the run for the Lions in the third inning after reaching on a fielder's choice and scoring on a balk committed by Central Baptist pitcher Brian Moreno.

Daily would score again in the fifth inning after reaching on a single up the middle and adding two more steals to his season total before Zac Carter would drive him in with a single to shallow left field.

FHU would add three more runs in the sixth inning as Houston Looser would connect on a pitch and take it over the left field fence for his second home run of the year. Pete Trollinger and Nate Van Nortwick would also cross the plate in the inning to give the Lions a conservative 7-0 lead.

The Lions added three more runs in the bottom half of the eighth inning as Looser, Trollinger and Van Nortwick would each cross the plate again to give the Lions all they needed to shutout the Mustangs 10-0 for their first conference win of the year.

With the win, the Lions move to 13-4 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.

UP NEXT: The Lions continue their series with Central Baptist College Saturday with a double-header beginning at 12:00 PM.
