CONWAY, Ark. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion soccer team extended their winning streak to eight games Tuesday, as they picked up a 4-1 victory over Central Baptist College on the road in Conway, Ark.
The Lady Lions had plenty of offense to go around, as three different players found the back of the net in the match-up. Samantha Clymer led the way for FHU, as she fired in one goal while attempting 10 shots and eight shots on goal in the match. The goal for Clymer marked her 19th goal of the season.
The Lady Lions (10-4, 8-1 AMC) put plenty of pressure on the Mustang defense, as they attempted 38 shots and 20 shots on goal compared to Central Baptist (0-14-1, 0-8-1 AMC) who attempted just one shot and one shot on goal in the match.
Nina Carolissen and Abby Redferrin also found success on the attack, as each chipped in one goal apiece while Central Baptist provided an Own Goal to round out the scoring for the Lady Lions. Avis Van Kampen and Lauren Rogers distributed the ball well in the match-up , as each contributed one assist apiece in the win.
Central Baptist struck first in the match-up with a goal in the 15th minute, as Danielle Hightower found the back of the net off an assist by Kady Johnson and Heather Lumley to put the Mustangs up 1-0 early. However, despite pulling ahead early, the Mustangs would give one back in the 27th minute, as they kicked in an Own Goal to tighten things up at one apiece entering the break.
The second half; however, belonged to the Lady Lions, as Redferrin (56th minute), Carolissen (70th minute) and Clymer (90th minute) each found the back of the net to put FHU up 4-1, which would be all they needed to secure the win.
With the win, the Lady Lions improve to 10-4 on the season and 8-1 in conference play. Central Baptist College falls to 0-14-1 on the season and 0-8-1 in AMC play with the loss.
