Box Score

Matt Barker, Sports Information Director

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion Soccer team made it look easy Thursday evening, as they picked up a convincing 5-1 win over Central Baptist College at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex.

The Lady Lions (4-5-1, 2-4 AMC) had plenty of offense to go around, as five different players recorded goals in the match-up. Sam Clymer led the way for FHU, as she attempted four shots and three shots on goal while recording one goal.

Abbey Redferrin got the scoring drive started for the Lady Lions, as she connected on deep shot well outside the box in the 14th minute to put FHU up 1-0 early. Nele Kirsch also found the back of the net in the first frame, as she connected on a goal in the 27th minute to put FHU up 2-0 entering the break.

Three more goals followed for the Lady Lions in the second half, as Freshman Hannah Bilger connected on her seventh goal of the season in the 57th minute to put FHU up 3-0 early in the second half. Sam Clymer (66th minute) and Avis Van Kampen (87th) rounded out the scoring for FHU in the second half to propel FHU to the win.

The Mustangs (1-6, 1-4 AMC) managed to get on the board in the 75th minute, as Kady Johnson fired in the lone goal for CBC; however, it would not be enough, as the Lady Lions secured the 5-1 win.

The Lady Lions out-shot the Mustangs 20-3 in the match-up, which included pounding 10 shots on goal and limiting CBC to just one shot on goal in the match.

With the win, the Lady Lions move to 4-5-1 on the season and 2-4 in conference play. Central Baptist College falls to 1-6 on the season and 1-4 in AMC play with the loss.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions are back in action Saturday, October 6th, as they take on No. 19 Columbia College for a 1:30 PM road match-up in Columbia, Mo.
