WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion Soccer team had to battle through two overtime periods to get the job done, but in the end came away with a 2-1 victory over Williams Baptist University on the road in Walnut Ridge, Ark.
The Lady Lions (5-6-1, 3-5 AMC) dominated the offensive possession for a majority of the game, as they out-shot the Eagles (0-10-1, 0-7 AMC) 25-3 in the match, with FHU peppering 13 shots on goal.
Freshman Hannah Bilger got the scoring drive started for the Lady Lions in the 16th minute, as she fired in her eighth goal of the season following a solid cross from Nele Kirsch to put FHU up 1-0 early in the game.
The Lady Lions held a 1-0 advantage until the 66th minute, where WBU midfielder Rhaegan Linn found the back of the net following a solid find from Alejandra Parga-Espinoza to even things up at one apiece.
From there, the match would take two overtimes to be decided, as both teams remained knotted up at one apiece for the remainder of regulation. However, the Lady Lions finally broke through in the second overtime period, as Abbey Redferrin found the back of the net in the 103rd minute following a solid pass from McCall Decker to give FHU the 2-1 victory.
With the victory, the Lady Lions move to 5-6-1 on the season and 3-5 in conference play. Williams Baptist University falls to 0-10 on the season and 0-7 in AMC play with the loss.
UP NEXT: The Lady Lions are back in action Tuesday, October 16th, as they take on Missouri Baptist University for a 5:00 PM road match-up in St. Louis, Mo.
