ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Following an impressive road trip where he led the Freed-Hardeman Lion baseball team to five wins, FHU Senior Outfielder Wes Brooks has been named the AMC Baseball Player of the Week, announced Monday by conference office in St. Louis, Mo.
For the week, Brooks pounded out five homeruns while hitting .550, courtesy of an 11-for-20 performance at the plate. He added 15 RBI and eight scored runs to his total to account for a majority of FHU's offense throughout the week. For the season, Brooks leads the Lions in total RBI with 37.
The highlight of his week came in the series finale with Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday, where he hit three homeruns, recorded six RBIs and scored three runs.
For the season, Brooks is hitting .372 and has a current hit streak of seven games, which has aided FHU in compiling seven straight wins entering Monday's game against Williams Baptist.
The Player of the Week nod for Brooks marks the first of his career. He is the second FHU player to earn the honor this season, the other coming on February 26th, as FHU Designated Hitter Josh Sears received the honor.

Ben Madison, Central Baptist: Struck out 10 in a seven inning win over Missouri Baptist.
Jared Humphry, Freed-Hardeman: Tossed a complete-game, allowing one unearned run and scattered three hits.
Dakota Stone, Columbia: Allowed one earned run in seven innings against Harris-Stowe. He struck out seven in the contest.
Vincent Phillips, Park: Allowed one earned run in eight innings of work against Lindenwood-Belleville. He Struck out six and did not walk a batter.

Kylan Barnett, Lyon: Had five RBIs and a homerun in the Scots big sweep over (RV) William Woods.
Alex Del Rio, Columbia: Went 6-for-8 (.750) with six RBIs.
Kellan Murray, Lindenwood-Belleville: hit .385 for the Lynx and scored two runs.
