HENDERSON, Tenn. – Not only did the Lions baseball team (13-4, 6-0 AMC) earn is second straight sweep to open up American Midwest Conference play, but they did it in dominating fashion, defeating Williams Baptist (6-10, 2-4 AMC) 7-0 and 20-0 in Saturday's double-header after blanking the Eagles 7-0 in game one on Friday night.

Starting on the mound, the Lions shutout the visitors in all three contests, the first time the program has done so under the leadership of head coach Jonathan Estes.

After Austin Steel struck out 13 batters and gave up only five hits and one walk in an eight-inning win on Friday, Jacob Sawyers would come on to strike out 10 batters on just one hit and two walks in game one on Saturday, followed by a nine strikeout, one hit performance from Alex Huey in game two.

Huey, a true freshman, was three outs away from a perfect game before giving up a lead-off hit in the top of the seventh inning. That was the only base runner allowed as he did not surrender a walk.

As for the bats in the series, All-American Josh Sears was able to crank a homerun in his first at-bat in game one on Saturday. In game two of the double-header, game three of the series, Bryce Lester and Will McCall both went yard.

Eight different players had at least one game with two or more RBIs in the series as well.

The Lions will host Blue Mountain College in a double-header on Tuesday. Game one is set to start at 1 p.m.
