CONWAY, Ark. – The Lions baseball team (26-6, 15-2 AMC) picked up right where it left off last night with two big wins over Central Baptist (14-16, 7-7 AMC) on Saturday, winning 12-1 and 15-2 in the double-header.
The Lions scored in all but two innings in both games combined with three separate innings with at least four runs.
Will McCall, Cody McSwain and De'Mikyle Holmes all hit solo shots in the two games, and Josh Sears added two home runs in game three of the series. Sears had eight RBIs in the two games combined.
Jacob Sawyers and Austin Steel were both dominant on the mound. Sawyers threw six of the seven innings in game two of the series, striking out 10 batters and only giving up the one earned run. Steel threw a full seven innings in game two and struck out eight batters.
Seth Selby came on in relief in the first game of the day and nearly retired the side, giving up a base on balls in the final inning.
The Lions will travel south to take on Louisiana State University-Alexandria on Monday in a double-header, with game one starting at 4 p.m.
