HENDERSON, Tenn. – After dropping game one 5-2 on Friday evening, the No. 6 Lions (33-11, 20-3 AMC) rallied from a six-run deficit to defeat Lindenwood University-Belleville (22-21, 12-9 AMC) 8-6 in game two.

The Lynx jumped down the Lions' throats early in game two, scoring five runs in the second inning and adding one more in the third.

The Lions were able to get one back in the bottom of the third after Zach Sanders hit a single and advanced to second on an error. De'Mikyle Holmes followed with a double off the left-center wall that nearly went over. Sanders came around to score to cut the lead to five.

Freed blew up in the bottom of the fourth when they were able to score four runs to make it just a one-run game.

The first two runs came off the bat of James Dodd, who hit a double that plated Collin McPherson and Will McCall. Dodd had a strong game two, going 2-for-3 with those two RBIs.

The other two runs came from Dom Pisano and Collin Baber, who stole third and second, respectively, followed by a wild pitch that scored Pisano, and a throwing error by the catcher on the same play that scored Baber.

After two scoreless innings in the fifth and sixth, the Lions tied the game at six runs each in the bottom of the seventh when Sanders scored from first base after Josh Sears popped up down the first-base line. Lindenwood was unable to make the tough catch, and Sanders scored the tying run.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, McCall led off the inning and took a ball to the opposite field, going over the wall and giving the Lions the lead. They would add an insurance run when Cody McSwain hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Isaac Howeth to score.

Landon Sewell came on the mound in relief in the seventh inning and earned the win after throwing three scoreless innings and striking out three batters.

Game one of the series went the same way, minus the late Lions rally.

The Lynx jumped out big early on, scoring four runs in the third inning. They would make it a 5-0 game in the top of the fourth, but the Lions got two of those back in the bottom half of the fourth when Christian Busby hit a two-run shot that just barely made it over the right-center wall.

The final game of the three-game series will be on Saturday at 12 noon.
