Lady Lions shut out Eagles in season opener

Box Score

HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lady Lions soccer team (1-0) earned its first win of the season on Tuesday, knocking off Williams Baptist (1-6, 1-4 AMC) 1-0.

It was a defensive game for both teams for the majority of the contest, with neither team able to find an edge over the other. That is, until Zoe Stom scored her first career goal as a Lady Lions with about 15 minutes in the game off the assist by McCall Decker.

The Lady Lions defense was able to hold strong for the remainder of the contest and earn the win. Carlen Whirley had a save in the shutout, and the Lady Lions outshot the Eagles 20-3.

The Lady Lions will continue non-conference play on February 4 when they travel to Middle Georgia State.
