HENDERSON, Tenn. – The No. 8 Lions (9-2, 1-0 AMC) won their AMC opener on Friday afternoon with a 9-7 win over William Woods (7-3, 0-1 AMC) in the first of a three-game series.

It started off the bat of third baseman Will McCall who hit a three-run home run in the top of the first inning to give his Lions a 3-0 lead for his first long ball of the year. He was able to add a solo shot later on in the contest to tie Josh Sears as team leaders in home runs in the early season.

Alex Huey received the start on the mound and earned the win for the Lions, going eight innings and striking out 11 batters, bringing his season total to 31 in just three games played.

The Lions and the Owls will continue and finish the series on Saturday with a double-header starting at noon. The game will be played at the Chester County High School field.
