ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Lions baseball team (13-2, 5-0 AMC) came away victorious in both games on Saturday afternoon, taking down Harris-Stowe (9-14, 0-5 AMC) 7-4 and 10-0 to open up the AMC Series of the Week.

Game one was a back-and-forth thriller, with neither team truly getting an edge until the Lions grabbed the lead in the fifth inning and extended it in the sixth.

The Hornets got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning, but the Lions struck back with three runs in the third, highlighted by an RBI double by Josh Sears. Dom Pisano, Sears and Isaac Howeth would all score in the inning.

Harris-Stowe came back in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game with a run, followed by another run in the bottom of the fourth to re-gain the lead.

In the top of the fifth, the Lions scored two runs to take a 5-4 lead after an error plated Will McCall and a single by Zach Sanders allowed Cody McSwain to score. FHU added two more in the top of the sixth when Howeth brought in Pisano on a single and Hunter Beecham scored on a bases-loaded walk by Zach Mueller.

Alex Huey earned the win after throwing four innings and striking out seven. Connor Creasy came in the game in the fifth and struck out two batters while earning the save.

Game two of the day and series was all Lions en route to a seven-inn run rule win.

They scored three runs in the top of the first inning thanks to a Pisano home run, his second of the season.

In the top of the fourth, Beau Simpson hit his first long ball of the year to score the only run of the inning. The Lions would add six more runs in the seventh inning, two off the bat of Pisano for his fourth and fifth RBI's of the game, two off the bat of Simpson for his second and third RBI's, one thanks to a wild pitch that scored Brady Harris, and Bryce Lester scored on a fielder's choice.

Austin Steel threw all seven innings, striking out 10 batters without surrendering a walk.

The Lions will look to record their second-straight sweep to start AMC play on Sunday with a single game starting at 1 p.m.
