BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lions baseball team (17-5, 9-2 AMC) split its two games against Lyon College (18-6, 9-2 AMC), losing game one 3-1, but coming alive in game two, winning 7-2.
After being shut out in the first game of the double-header, the Lions' bats came alive in the second game, scoring six runs in the first inning. Bryce Lester scored on a Dom Pisano single, and with bases loaded, Isaac Howeth drew a walk, allowing Josh Sears to score.
With two outs, Zach Sanders hit a double to left-center, clearing the bases to make it 5-0. Christian Busby was able to bring him in on the ensuing at-bat with a double down the left-field line.
Jack Christian threw a gem on the mound, going eight innings in the win with four strikeouts and giving up just one earned run. Landon Sewell was able to clean things up in the ninth with two strikeouts.
It was a tough offensive performance in the first game, as the Lions were only able to get one hit in the contest. Connor Creasy had a strong performance on the mound, throwing all seven innings and striking out seven batters.
The Lions are scheduled for a four-game home series against College of the Ozarks this weekend. The Friday double-header is scheduled to start at 2 p.m., with Saturday's starting at noon.
